Mojo Men From Mars - Target: Earth
Mojo Men From Mars is a rock 'n' roll band from Zagreb that took their name from The Cramps's song of the same name. They describe their music as 56-66-76 rock 'n' roll, a merge of 50s
rockabilly, 60s garage rock and 70s punk.
The first time that the band got together was in 2008. They started with covers of The Ramones, Buddy Holly, The Clash, The Sonics and Elvis. After a few rehearsals Elvis Fitz brought one of his own compostions, a song called »Waste My Time« with rockabilly sound in his mind, but the band played it in garage punk style and so they found their direction. Two of their friends, Branko Radovancević (High Steppers, B & The Bops) and Peppers (Latex Willer) who were regulars at their rehearsals encouraged the band to hit the stage.
The band's first demos were recorded in 2009 and got some great reviews, but in 2015 the band hit the studio for real. At that time they recorded five songs which were self-released as the EP »Invasion Of ...« that you can find on the band's Bandcamp site. The songs were recorded by Marko Tizaj (High Steppers, ex. The Mad Men etc.).
Two years later the band found themselves in the studio again. This time recording »Zdenac, Jabuka, Lap« to support one of the oldest, cult clubs in Zagreb. The song was recorded directly to Tascam 8-track by Goran Lautar (ex. The Babies, , WCIF, Dychmann Family ... now Neon Lies). But the band didn't rest. In September the band shared the bill at Vintage Industrial Bar with Thee Melomen and Tyger Lamb. Seven songs were recorded, two of them were released on the compilation »It Came From The Garage, vol. 2« others will be available on the band's vinyl debut »Target: Earth« that will be released on Martin's Garage.
The band have played most clubs in Zagreb, some festivals (Trash & Burn etc.) and abroad. They played their first gig in Slovenia in January 2018. Now they are coming back in April to Orto Bar where they will promote their first vinyl release, »Target: Earth«.
